ITALY BERLUSCONI’S WIFE

Italian newspapers reported on Monday, May 4, 2009 that a peeved Premier Silvio Berlusconi has demanded a public apology from his wife, who announced she was seeking a divorce from the billionaire media magnate because she was fed up with his roving eye for younger women. According to an interview published in an Italian daily, Berlusconi said that his wife “fell into a media trap,” by complaining last week that he had planned to launch a bevy of TV starlets and showgirls for his Freedom People’s ticket in European Parliament elections next month. Among the TV starlets to be included in the list was Barbara Matera, an ex-Miss Italy contestant and model, while two other women _ a former Big Brother contestant and a TV-movie actress _ were not included.
